Colette Brooks is the author of two books of creative nonfiction, In the City: Random Acts of Awareness (published by Norton, and winner of the PEN/Jerard Fund Award) and Lost in Wonder: Imagining science and other mysteries (published by Counterpoint).
She was born in Seattle and studied at Reed College and the Yale School of Drama. Her essays have appeared in The Georgia Review, The New York Times, The New Republic, Partisan Review, Southwest Review, Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art, and Hotel Amerika, among others.
She lives in New York City, where she teaches at Lang College/The New School. She is at work on another book.
